FaMeFlex, the modern fastening method for Battery Molds
Precision, accurate molding with the modern FaMe-products is now possible also for battery molds.Finnish, Sora ja Betoni Suutarinen (www.suutarinen.fi) produces precast elements starting from columns and beams all the way to sandwich façade and gray wall elements. Since founding of the company in 1951 they have invested greatly in developing the operations. Since the new factory investment in 1997 one development after another has taken place, the latest being modernizing the gray wall production technology via Elematic Battery Molds.
Suutarinen and Elematic have completed a joint development project on adapting the Elematic FaMeFlex fastening method to battery molds. “Thanks to the new battery friendly FaMeFlex, the production of gray wall elements is much more efficient than earlier”, says production manager Janne Vilve. Elematic’s FaMe Sales engineer, Tero Kivimäki adds: “The system has already proved to be a success and it surely can be presented to all precasters operating with battery molds!.

Appointments at Elematic Group
Mr Petri Vesa appointed Sales Director of Elematic Oy Ab with effect from September 1, 2008.Mr. Petri Vesa, M.Sc.(Eng.) has been appointed Sales Director with effect from 1st September 2008. His responsibilities comprise the global operative sales of Elematic, focusing on the management of the company’s sales personnel and administration of the sales representatives. Mr. Vesa joined Elematic in March this year. He has previously worked within sales management at Metso Automation and Aspo Systems. Mr. Esa Enqvist continues as Director of Marketing and Sales. In addition to his management responsibilities, he continues to further the development of Elematic’s sales processes.
Mr. Kimmo Vesterinen, project manager at Elematic, will start as Export Manager to the Middle East area (stationed in Toijala, Finland) starting September 22, 2008. He, together with
Mr. Raimo Juhantalo (Elematic Dubai) will take over Mr. Arto Pohjonen’s duties and clients, since Mr. Pohjonen is heading towards new work challenges and is leaving Elematic on November 30, 2008.
Elematic is strengthening the FaMe product sales and services both in Finland and in the German speaking Europe.
Mr. Tommi Rantala is appointed Sales Engineer for Elematic FaMe products with effect from September 1st, 2008. He is stationed in Toijala, Finland.
Mr. Tero Mäki will be stationed at Elematic GmbH (Nidda, Germany) as FaMe as Sales Engineer starting October 1, 2008.

Finland: The fourth Precast Academy yet another success
In April, Elematic arranged the fourth Precast Academy forum in Helsinki, Finland. The four-day seminar was designed to develop and improve participants' knowledge and understanding of hollow-core slab production technologies as well as the designing and use of hollow-core slab in all areas of construction globally.The number of attendees has increased with each Precast Academy event and this time over 30 highly motivated participants from 13 countries arrived to Helsinki to gain and share information on precast concrete. The event was specially designed for companies that are planning to start precast production or have recently begun to operate in the precast industry.
The fourth Precast AcademyThe theoretical part of the seminar was composed of lectures, workshops, and intense discussions on ideas, problems, and solutions regarding hollow-core slab production and the designing, producing, and using of hollow-core slabs. The practical part included several visits to precast factories as well as building sites, where precast products were being mounted. Throughout the seminar, participants had the opportunity to discuss problems and ideas among themselves as well as with Elematic's experts. Many valuable aspects were shared and information gained from talking to other producers with similar interests, and on the final day, Elematic topped off the seminar by revealing what you should do to keep your profit coming!

Finland: Maintenance via Internet
Betonimestarit relies on partnership with Elematic -- The channel for information transfer between precast company Betonimestarit Oy in Finland and Elematic has been opened through a maintenance system module operating in the Internet. Founded in 1988, Betonimestarit Oy is one of Finland's largest precast element suppliers and has increased their growth rate rapidly after the year 2005. The company has acquired four new factories within the past three years, all of which contain Elematic machines and equipment.Currently four of Betonimestarit Oy's factories are located in Sweden and two in Finland. The possibility of carrying out maintenance actions remotely through the Internet ensures the functionality of the Elematic machinery: a connection exists between Betonimestarit's production control system and Elematic service. If a malfunction should occur, Betonimestarit contacts Elematic, connects the machine in question to the Internet and Elematic can access the control system of the machine directly and fix the fault remotely.
"This for us is true partnership", says Jussi Sinkkonen, Factory Service Manager at Betonimestarit Oy. "We invest in the right machinery from Elematic and this combined with Elematic's service connection and maintenance functions enable us to keep a year or more ahead of our competitors."
Betonimestarit turns out an impressing yearly amount of 200 000 m2 hollow-core in Finland and 60 000 m2 in Sweden. In addition, the company's factories produced 37 000 tonnes of beams and columns in 2007 as well as 17 000 m2 of TT-slabs and HTT-slabs.
"Our cooperation with Elematic is as good as it gets", says Sinkkonen. "We have confidence in each other and the partnership is beneficial to both. Betonimestarit receives top quality machinery and equipment, and Elematic receives test results on the use of new machinery and production tests in general. We are very satisfied with this arrangement."

Hollow-core slab lifting made profitable with ease by Elematic LoopMaster
Elematic R&D always one step ahead - Master series advances production and construction. To facilitate our customers' operations and enhance their product offering, Elematic is developing the slab-lifting process. The Elematic LoopMaster is the first step toward significantly improved lifting actions - the lugs are guaranteed to stay attached to the slab and the hooks remain in the lugs in any and all conditions at the construction site.For special hollow-core slabs that can not be lifted with clamps and thus require lifting lugs, LoopMaster makes the holes in the slab cover, under the reinforcement strand. The machine fixes the lug and compacts the concrete around it to ensure that it will not come loose - no additional concrete is needed, LoopMaster reuses the concrete it has dug out. The possible margin of error connected with manual labor decreases considerably and the task becomes faster, safer, and more cost-effective. Every hook is sure to be under the reinforcement strand and will not come out! The upper end of the lug remains lower than the slab surface and so does not require cutting at the construction site. Developing the lifting process in general aims at also decreasing the number of different machines required.
The Elematic Master series is part of Elematic's one-stop-supplier concept, where the supporting equipment comes with the same master quality and full automation as the main machinery.
